Bombay Saga Finally Ends....

Bombay Saga Finally Ends....A defining moment in Bombay's history

We are sad but at we are extremely angry, Angry at our helplessness,Angry due to our
incompetent National Intelligence, Angry at our Leadership, Angry at ourself for not being
able to save innocent lives and counter attack the terror elements.

Young or Old, Bihari ,South Indian or Maharashtrian, Congress or BJP, irrespective of demography,
geography or psychography, everybody is angered by the terror attacks.
Common man is under extreme pain watching innocent lives being taken.
It has brought India together with one feeling, the feeling of anger.

From Wednesday night through Thursday,Friday and Saturday morning Bombay was in the grasp of fear and confusion. In one of the worst terrorist attacks on Indian soil, it all began on Wednesday evening at 9.15 pm at Leopold Cafe followed by Nariman house at 9.20 pm then at CST at 9.24 pm then at Taj at 9.30 pm then at the Oberoi Trident at 9.35 pm then outside Cama Hospita at 10.15 pm and finally at Metro cinema at 10.30pm

62 hours after a group of armed young men between 20-25 years in age , mounted a series of coordinated attacks on Bombay, leaving more than 200 people dead & nearly 300 injured, it has become painfully apparent that this country is woefully unprepared for terrorist attacks of this type.

The operation to flush out terrorists from Taj Hotel finally got over today morning (Nov 29 ) after 2 days & 3 nights, signalling an end to the 62-hour siege by terrorists three of whom were killed this morning in an assault by the elite commandos of National Security Guards .

The siege of Nariman House ended on Friday Nov 28 evening with NSG commandos storming the building and killing two terrorists so was the siege at Oberoi ,Trident which ended in the afternoon killing the terrorists.

The last two days and three nights have a continuous ordeal of nightmare.Terrorists unknown in number were lurking about in the most unexpected of locales holding hostages to ransom.

Fear, panic and tension rose in the air. The city which usually bounces back from the tragedy the next day was brought to a stand still. The bustling area of Colaba which is usually vivacious turned into a war zone with commandos and choppers indulging in reinforcement to eliminate the miscreants. The three operations at Oberoi, Nariman house and Taj intensified. Exchanges with the enemy and loud bombings send shivers down the spine around those watching it on television and live.

It was a daunting task for the NSG commandos,Bombay Police , Army personnel to nab the extremists who were on their toes for almost 60 hours...

Yet the grit and determination indeed portrayed the valor of our security personnel who managed to make their operations successful. Smiles are beginning to emerge as millions are celebrating the end of this terror nightmare.

It is time to salute our real heroes— the NSG commandos, armed services personnel, the police, all other security and intelligence service personnel, the fire service personnel, and every one who fought tirelessly for the last two days and three nights and seemingly brought to an end the most horrific terrorist attack in the country.

Deepest and heartfelt condolences and appreciation of the people of the nation should go to those brave security personnel who lost their lives fighting the terrorists. The loss to their families is truly unfathomable. In fact the loss is for every one of us. They may have to be remembered with a befitting memorial built near Taj Hotel.

Then the people who lost their lives in this most heinous act of terrorists have paid very heavy price, which should not be allowed to go waste. Perhaps after the 9/11 in US , this is the gravest incident to hit India & that to Amchi Mumbai. The 26/11 or Mumbai's 9/11 whichever way we call it may have to be remembered for a long time to come.
The TV pictures of the attackers, the brave security personnel, some of the hostages, the burning Taj etc will be etched in our memories forever.

The courage of the all the media reporters across News channels really deserves an appreciation , as they showed us live updates as whats been happenning across the places which were attacked...

Let us hope the so called POLITICIANS of the country will act now, and act decisively, and instill confidence in the minds of the citizens of the nation.

It is really surprising that despite assurances, our security on the sea front has been so weak that so much arms and ammunitions came in through sea route. We have still not learnt our lesson from the 1993 Bombay blasts & its high time that we have a NSG unit stationed in Bombay for Bombay's security.

A secular, inclusive India with modern infrastructure to fight terror is the need of the hour.
