My Life in Bombay...................

My Life in Bombay oops..its Amchi Mumbai my love ...

I don't know where to start where to end....what do i say about this lovely happenning place Mumbai...the city which has given me a lot.. I have lived there 24 yrs of my life and moved down south just becos; of a career shift..but even now am just waiting to go back to my roots...vashi ,navi mumbai...


While writing this I am humming the soulful number “Ei hai bambai nagaria tu dekh babua”. I wonder if Big “B” can sing the same again in the same spirit.Another number which comes to my mind is by Majrooh Sultanpuri in the movie C.I.D..."Aye Dil Hai Mushkil Jeena Yahan
Zara Hat Ke Zara Bach Ke, Yeh Hai Bombay Meri Jaan"...


I have been born and brought up in this gorgeous city Bombay and been here for 24 yrs, was born in Chembur, Pestom Sagar and studied my pre-school days in Holy Family,Chembur and later moved to my new home in Vashi,New Bombay in 1982,

I still remember that chilly morning when in April '82 when we did our house Grahapravesh..I was just 5 yrs old at that time...chota sa bachaa:)) haha... A nice beautiful Row-house near the sea ,which is my daddy & mama's house :) which is got a veranda in the front and back ,a 14 step staircase in between the hall & the kitchen which leads you to the bedrooms on the first floor and then a terrace..It was fun for me at that age to climb up & down the stairs and do masti.... :)

I had a whole lot of friends in my colony,but Mandar, Amol, Nilesh were one of the close pals we were all in the same age group , Amol & myself were in the same class and mandar was a yr elder to us,Nilesh was 2 yrs elder to me..they were there before i shifted to my new house..

so I know them since then...every evening we used to meet in one of our houses sit in the veranda and play different games and even when we grew up and moved to colleges ..we used to play cricket in our lanes or freak out in the evenings at Sagar vihar ..joke around ,tease some aunties, girls :)) haha....Nilesh had a car..so we used to go driving..hang out in some vada pav stalls....we had our preety bunch of aunties in our neighbourhood who we used to give looks..unko chane ke jaad pe chadathe the.... ..ooo..lolitha..we had a gala fun those times

and its been 7 yrs now since i moved frm home, till now we r the best buddies & we call up each other & i keep getting updates about the happennigs in vashi,our area, about the new babes in town * about our ex gf's,aunties ..lol ..haha...

Flash back:

Well I joined this school named "Sacred Heart High School" in vashi in Std 1 and studied till Std 10 there itself...Lotsa hungamas in those 10 yrs too in school :) ..I don't remember much of those primary section days in school but a few good friend right from day 1 in school...Vaibhavi, Preeta , Saurabh- we were together till the end of our college days together..though i & vaibhavi were in same Podar college & preeta & saurabh were in another college named SIES....& there were a few seniors from my school too...all staying near the same locality..Our college login times were same so it was traveling together majority of the times....

My college days form 11th to T.Y.B.com ..I still remember the day of my admission huge line of students waiting to pay the fees ,i had Rohan Gavaskar standing in front of me ,who i did not know till i reached the counter,it was then i got to know since the college clerk spoke in marathi to rohan and enquired about his dad to him tht was when i got to know he is the son of a cricketer,.. 5 fruitful yrs at Podar College ,Matunga..my college was bang opposite the Matunga Gymkana cricket club and a top commerce college in mumbai....

During college days ,I had to travel everday almost 45 mins.. by bus during my 11& 12th Class & during B.Com days by train in the first class compartment early morning 7 am...which was like fun changing 2 trains every day Vashi to Kurla & Kurla to Matunga...

..and then bunking college lectures once or twice a week and hanging around in the "khatta" --khatta is a wall which is built across the Matunga Gymkana cricket club and there was our very good friend Suresh sandwichwala, bang opposite the college gate ,we used sit and keep muching those delicious veg sandwiches... & at times hang around some restaurants also nearby...and all restaurants attracted amazing crowd too.. we had a irani restaurant toward the left end of the college and DP's , Mani's on the other end of the road..these 2 restaurants was close to Ruia College (Science & Arts ) which is adjacent to Podar College (Commerce). Shilpa Shetty was from my college and a yr senior to me...I just bumbed across her once during the annual college festival "RAPPORT" & was introduced to her by my sr.school friend once..At that time she was working on her 1st movie break Bazzigar...i remember we all went together to watch tht movie when it got released... My college also had very famous personalities from cricket world,theatre...etc...so did Ruia college....I also remember bumping into Gautami who was an Miss India Contestant now a tv artise in her role as tulsi virani in kyunki sasss...... once in front of Ruia college gate...Unfortunately I could not say hi as i was tongue struck for a few seconds...she was a cute girl....and i was also getting late for my early morning lecture..so my bad luck on tht .....:)) haha

I had my gang in college right from 11th Class.... Vicky,Karthik,Abhishek,Prajakta,Pradnya,Gaurangi,Payal.. as we had taken FRENCH as our second language we were together till 12th in the same classroom....i should say we used to freak out like anything during college ..hanging out in resto's..going to Eros,Sterling,Metro cinemas to watch movies.... B.Com days we did move to different sections ,not the same clasroom...but we still kept our group and fun time..though the gang members increase ..we had Gaurav,Rupen,Siddharth (He is a singer in the group Band of boys) joining us...we were all cricket freaks, so we used to play cricket in 5 gardens ,wadala which was a 10 minute walk from college..the place is called 5 gardens cos there were 5 separate gardens situated colse to each other and which attracted all lovers frm nearby colleges...:)) so we used to play cricket there...

I wish those days can really come back..............................
